Excavation and Site Work Across Every Job Type

Seven service types covering every excavation need — residential, commercial, municipal, and industrial. If it involves moving earth, managing water, or building infrastructure, Hale handles it.

How Hale Excavation Started

Eric Hale did not start behind a desk. He began his career in 1991 as a laborer and surveyor on the Auburn Landfill Cell 4 project — a $5.2 million, 20-acre landfill cell construction in Cayuga County, New York. During that project, he joined the operating engineer apprenticeship program, and today he holds that certification as New York State’s first non-union certified operating engineer.

He worked his way up through every role in the field. Foreman in 1995. First superintendent role in 1998, running the parallel taxiway construction at the Williamson-Sodus Airport in Wayne County. Superintendent on the Madison County Landfill Cell 7 liner system in 2008. Project manager in 2012, running two major landfill cell projects the same year — the Ontario County Landfill Stage VII-B Liner Extension in Stanley, NY, and the Clinton County Landfill Phase V Cell No. 1B in Morrisonville, NY. For thirty years, all of Eric’s work was inside New York State. That changed in 2022, when he became senior project manager on two federal projects: the Yellow Creek Restoration and Levee Upgrades for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and two landfill closures plus PCB remediation at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. In 2023, he moved into a director of operations role.

At his peak, Eric coordinated 60 or more workers from 5 different companies on a single job site and managed annual project portfolios of $30 to $50 million.Eric founded Hale Excavation LLC on November 4, 2025, bringing all of that experience back home to Central New York. The standards, the work ethic, and the project management discipline are the same as those he applied to large-scale operations. The scale is just more personal.

What We Stand For

Safety on Every Job Site

Our crews follow OSHA protocols, maintain proper certifications, and treat every job site as a controlled work environment. Safety is not a policy we post on the wall. It is how we operate every day.

Quality Work, On Schedule, Within Budget

This is the standard Eric held on multi-million-dollar projects, and it is the standard we hold on every job. We communicate clearly, manage the schedule, and deliver the work as promised.

Honest Communication

We tell you what the project requires, what it will cost, and how long it will take. If conditions change during the work, we communicate that immediately. No surprises, no hidden charges.

Respect for the Work

Excavation is serious work. Whether it is a residential drainage fix or a municipal infrastructure project, we treat every job with the same level of professionalism and attention to detail.
